Hi there--I've been making prickly pear jelly (I live in Arizona) every summer for a few years, and occasionally it turns out as syrup instead. I've actually found that I prefer the syrup to the jelly, and would love to can it in glass syrup bottles instead of jars (I've had snarky comments at a farmer's market, like "Hers didn't jell either!" Ugh. Hellooo...I can hear you! People...) Anyway, I find that the syrup is easier to use, more versatile, and is wonderful (and lucrative) to co-market with pancake mix.

The question...is it possible to do home canning in bottles? I've never seen two-part bands/lids for bottles, and wonder if the commercial one-part lid can be used safely at home. Anyone? Thanks! :)
