Plum preserves

I have more yellow plums that I could never eat in a single week. If you live in Seattle, let me know if you want some. If you don't, how 'bout sharing a good jam recipe?

Hey Ivana, I know this is a year after your post.......but try canning them! They are soooooo good! Use have of them to cook down into a sauce, and run through cheese cloth, then use this juice to cold pack the other whole plums into jars, and hot water bath! Yum yum! Don't remember the time, but can find it for you if you still have extra plums!!!!!

I'm not a big fan of plums or regular plum jams, but I found a great "recipe" that I love for making a great jam. It's simple. Make a plain old plum jam, but add some chopped walnuts (blanched briefly) and ordinary raisins. I put in roughly a cup of each for 8-10 cups of fruit, but I say the more the better, especially with the walnuts. Just put the raisins in well before your mixture has cooked down since they tend to absorb some of the water. I sometimes add a little lemon juice too.

The resulting jam is somehow much better with these simple additions.
